Jitter

Jitter is any deviation or shift in the signal pulses in a high-frequency digital signal or irregularities in a signal. The deviation can relate to the amplitude, the phase time or the width of the signal pulse.
The causes of jitter include electromagnetic interference (EMI) and crosstalk with other signals. The strength of the permissible jitter depends heavily on the application.
