Structured lighting

Structured lighting (see also direct incident light) is the projection of lines, grids, dots or circles onto an object.
This allows three-dimensional characteristics of the object to be determined and measurements and presence checks to be carried out even when there is no brightness contrast. In addition to line projectors, lasers(laser triangulation) are often used for this purpose, as their good focusing properties allow very precise projections.
