Translucency

Partial translucency of a material (from lat. lux for light). Although translucent materials allow light to pass through, no objects can be seen behind them, as is the case with frosted glass, for example. Often confused with transparency (complete view or image transparency).
The reciprocal of translucency is opacity (opacity).
